The benefits of regular physical activity go far beyond the playing field. Getting kids into sport from a young age supports their physical health by building strength, coordination, and cardiovascular fitness. It also plays a huge role in mental wellbeing, sport is proven to reduce anxiety, improve mood, and teach children how to handle pressure and setbacks with resilience. On top of that, team sport develops real social skills: communication, empathy, and the ability to work alongside others. Perhaps most importantly, mastering a new skill builds genuine self-confidence that carries into every area of a child's life.
WHY SPORT MATTERS
WHAT WE PLAY
Each camp features a rotating mix of sports so there's always something new to try. We play basketball, touch football, soccer, AFL, pickleball, hockey, netball, cricket, and plenty more. No two camps are the same, and that variety exposes kids to sports they might never have picked up otherwise, with qualified coaching to back it up.
HOW IT WORKS
Camps run every school holiday period at two convenient locations, Maitland High School in Maitland and Beaton Primary School in Newcastle. Each camp spans two days, and families can choose to attend one day or both. All ability levels are welcome. Epic Sports is built for every kid, not just the ones already playing in a team.

Pricing is $70 per day, per child. Active Kids and Creative Kids vouchers are accepted, making it even easier for families across the region to get involved.

Epic Sports Camps was founded by Jonty, a Health and Physical Education teacher with 4-7 years of experience working with secondary students in the Newcastle and Hunter region. Jonty's teaching career has given him a deep understanding of how young people learn, stay motivated, and thrive when they're active, engaged, and having fun. This first-hand classroom experience shapes every camp program, from age-appropriate activities to creating a safe, positive environment where kids can build confidence and skills. Jonty founded Epic Sports Camps to bring that same quality of care and expertise beyond the school gates, giving Newcastle and Maitland families a school holiday program they can trust. With a strong grounding in curriculum-aligned physical education and a genuine passion for youth development, Jonty is committed to making every camp day both epic and educational.
